Happy New Year

This morning, I'm having a Grande Starbucks chai tea latte. It is spicy and delicious, of course.
It's New Year's Day, 2016.
My husband and children are fast asleep, after crashing way before midnight last night.
I stayed awake until just after 12, to say I did, and to relish in the fact that I wasn't watching any (live or prerecorded) countdowns to the new year. No, I was watching LOTR, The Return of the King.
It felt eerie to me that the moment it turned midnight, was the moment that two armies were descending upon one another in battle. Their  goal? Destruction of the other side's forces.
Is that what the new year holds for me? Battling it out, for the good or for the evil to win out? If so, then I am going to need a lot more coffee, and a TON more Jesus.
I couldn't stay awake any longer than that scene, so I didn't make it to "I am no man!" (Every girl's fav part of that movie, let's face it. I mean, Viggo is really cute and all, but GIRL POWER, y'all!!)
Maybe when I finish the movie today, my resolve will be bolstered.
I have some boring adult goals for this year, of course.
Cleaning out the house, less clutter, watch what I eat, be nicer to all the people that don't like me, yadaya. But the best goal is to drink good coffee.
Not crappy coffee just because.
GOOD coffee.
Good coffee means I am enjoying the stuff in the mug or cup in front of me, and I am in company of somebody I love. Either quietly with God, overly-loudly with my precious children, or confidentially with a sweet friend.
Good coffee moments are what I am most looking forward to this year!
So, let the battle rage on, let the closets be cleaned (literally and figuratively, Lord) and let the COFFEE be poured out!
Happy New Year, 2016
